Artwork for Engraving Information
Question: What kind of artwork do you need to put a logo on an award, trophy or promotional product made of crystal, glass, or marble?
Answer: Getting or creating camera ready artwork may be inconvenient for some people because artwork must be received in a digital file format that is created in Adobe Illustrator 10.0 (or lower) in pure black and white (no colors or shades of gray).
Artwork must be vector based - made from points, lines, curves, etc. A .jpg, .gif, or .tif image is unacceptable. They are pixel art. Pixel art is made up of tiny squares. Each tiny square produces a jagged line as opposed the clean lines of vector art.
HINTS Letter-heads, Faxes and Photocopies are low resolution and are not useable. Images embedded in MS Word is not useable. Images on internet are most likely in 72 dpi and not useful.
EPS image must be CREATED in vector file (i.e., created in Adobe Illustrator). Importing a non-vector image (such as JPEG, TIFF) to EPS and then saving it as EPS does NOT make it an EPS file.
There are many companies on the web who will provide art conversion service, for a charge. The trick is to know what you want and use the terminology that will get you the results you need the first time, without revisions, which can cost you extra. We can do it for you for $20.00.
